Venus Noorleila is a poet, performer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work weaves the mystical with the raw, the spiritual with the rebellious.
Born of Indonesian and Scottish heritage and raised mostly in Australia, her creative voice is a fusion of ancestral echoes, modern commentary, and deeply personal storytelling.
With an extensive background in energy therapies and a deep reverence for the unseen, Venus’ work explores themes of self-perception, capacities in the spirit, nature’s wisdom, and the paradoxes of identity.
Her poetry is both oracular and unflinching—delivering messages that unsettle, awaken, and empower. She doesn’t just write words; she conjures cinematic, immersive experiences that pull the audience into hidden worlds.
Before stepping fully into the world of poetic and cinematic storytelling, Venus was fully embedded in underground music and performance art. As a DJ, event curator, and leader of multiple artist collectives, she was one of the first foreigners to make an impact on Seoul’s underground music scene, helping shape the city’s first and longest-running spoken word and poetry event: Word Food. She has also worked in front of the camera as a model, actor and voice recording artist, further expanding her creative repertoire.
Her latest work, Beauty Sick, is a haunting spoken-word piece dissecting beauty standards, digital distortion, and the war waged against authenticity. Fusing stark lyricism with visual storytelling, the project challenges societal ideals and reclaims self-image from the grip of consumer culture. It is both a battle cry and a eulogy—for the self we’ve lost to perfectionism and the one we fight to resurrect.
Beyond poetry, Venus is a storyteller across mediums—writing, performance, music, and film. She is also a healer, channeling ancient wisdom into modern contexts, offering creative work that not only provokes thought but initiates transformation.
