Ever since I was a child, perception arrived before anyone had given me permission to have it. I saw things. Knew things. Felt things that had no name in the language I was being given. The abilities were real. The world around me was working hard to convince me otherwise.

What followed was decades of learning to trust what I already knew — through the land, through the felines who kept finding me, through twenty years of professional practice working with energy in the most demanding conditions it can be tested in. Detox settings. Crisis. The moment before someone decides whether to stay.

The felines have been constant throughout. Not metaphorically. Actually. A small white cat named Meraki — who survived being under a motorcycle wheel because something in me refused to let her go — is the reason this work exists in the form it does.
